Why Sacraments?
As humans we live in the physical world and have a physical nature. Although we also have a spiritual nature our experiences are primarily in the physical world. God, in His wisdom, meets us in the world of our senses, through the sacraments of the Church. The sacraments are real, physical events that we can touch, feel, see, hear and smell. The physical aspects are the symbols or signs of the sacrament. The marvelous thing is that they not only signify what is happening but they bring it about. God gives us his grace at our level, in a manner we can relate to, all the while calling us to Himself, reaching out to our spiritual selves. http://ihmcc.org/baptism-prep.html
