Philosophy of Catholic Education
I believe the philosophy of Catholic education is to bring peace and harmony into the classroom. The students may not remember what you taught them, but they will never forget who you were and how you related to them. Teachers in a Catholic school are more than employees – they minister the gospel through the hidden curriculum and with the help of the school culture.
Catholic education prepares and teaches our students good morals without compromise and gets them ready for the world as good Christians. The students are provided opportunities to develop their skills academically, physically and spiritually to enhance God’s glory and the dignity of all people no matter was ethnicity they are. The Catholic schools are a community within themselves building a culture with the surrounding society by enlightening the values of the Gospel. This makes the Catholic education distinctive – a unique climate. A Catholic leader accepts this responsibility and can create a rich environment to be shared with staff and students. Catholic educators are committed to professional excellence and spiritual growth in their lives by supporting the educational opportunities offered for their family, their students and for their community.
Catholic education believes that everyone is made in God’s image and likeness and deserves to grow and experience the world by maintaining their integrity, hope in their lives and developing to their fullest potential. The Catholic education recognizes that each student is created by God and promotes diversity and inclusion. Students with disabilities and special needs have the right to an education. Catholic educators provide for these exceptional students the opportunity to share the school experience in which their brothers, sisters and friends enjoy so much. The Catholic philosophy believes that exceptional students and students with special or high needs are welcomed and are embraced with special provisions to enhance their experiences.
In a Catholic environment everyone seems more like a family bonded by faith. I believe the purpose of Catholic Schools is to develop each student’s understanding of the Holy Spirit, the world around them, and themselves through a formal educational structure by using knowledge and reasoning skills. Catholic education helps build in each student a sense of accomplishment so that their educational talents and God-given gifts would be used to serve others in humble manner. In other words, I believe that teaching God’s message that we are all created in his image, setting examples and being good role models we can teach each student that they are unique and that they can deepen their relationship with God and others.
