Making Sense of the Bible:
The first five books of the Bible are sometimes called the Pentateuch which means “five books.” The first five books are: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus,
Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The two main elements that these five books show throughout its contents is the history of salvation (history of the Kingdom of God) and laws (instructions and regulations for mankind to follow). The law was given to Moses by the Lord to give to the people. If we keep in mind, the five books are written for the coming of the Lord. Thus, we can say that the first five books are made up of historical spiritual events and laws and that the Gospel reflects the historical spiritual happenings.
I think the Moses wrote these five books, especially the laws so that mankind would know that they were law-breakers. I also believe that the Old Testament sets an understanding and a foundation for the “Word of God”. This foundation gives spiritual fluidity into the understanding of the New Testament.
